Nathiagali Honeymoon Guide: Best Months, a 3-Day Couples Itinerary and Where to Stay

October 2026

Nathia Gali is one of the best honeymoon destinations in Pakistan for couples who want quiet rather than crowds: it is cool, forested and only about 2.5 hours from Islamabad. After weeks of mehndi, baraat, walima and several hundred relatives, most newly married couples want exactly that: somewhere quiet, cool and not too far away. It sits at roughly 2,410 metres in the Galiyat, about 2.5 hours from Islamabad, which means no flights and no two-day road journey, and you can be walking under pine trees the afternoon after you leave home.

This guide is practical rather than dreamy: when to go, what to do with three days, how to find real privacy, what to pack, and the small details that catch couples out.

The short answer

Nathiagali is one of the best honeymoon places in Pakistan for couples who want peace rather than a crowd. Go in April to June or September to October for mild days and clear views, or December to February for a snow honeymoon if you can keep your dates flexible. Three nights is the right length. Choose a private, self-contained place to stay over a busy hotel corridor, and plan one gentle outing a day rather than a checklist.

Why does Nathiagali suit a honeymoon better than Murree?

Murree is closer to Islamabad and has far more hotels and shops, but it is also the busiest hill station in the country, and on a summer weekend Mall Road is no place for a quiet conversation. Nathiagali is about 35 km further along the same ridge and feels like a different world: a small bazaar, forest on every side, and evenings that go silent once the day visitors leave. There is no nightlife here and very little shopping. For a honeymoon that is exactly the point.

If you are still deciding between the two hill stations, we have compared them honestly on crowds, access, snow and accommodation.

What are the best months for a honeymoon in Nathiagali?

For most couples, April to June and September to October. Spring brings fresh green forest and quiet paths. May and June are warm by day, around 15 to 25C through the summer, and cool enough at night for a shawl. September and October have the clearest air of the year and far fewer visitors. If your wedding falls in the main shaadi season of November to March, late March and April are the first dependable months afterwards.

July and August are school holidays and peak season: pleasant weather, but the village is at its busiest and rooms fill early, so book well ahead and arrive midweek. The monsoon, from July into September, brings mist drifting through the pines, which is wonderfully atmospheric, and also sudden showers, so plan around the mornings.

Is a snow honeymoon in Nathiagali a good idea?

It can be the most memorable version of all. From December to February Nathiagali sees heavy snowfall, the forest turns white, the village is nearly empty between snowfalls, and temperatures drop below freezing at night. A winter wedding followed by a few days in the snow is a fine plan, provided you respect the conditions.

The caveats are real. The Galiyat road can close for hours, occasionally longer, after a heavy fall, so check road conditions on the morning you travel, keep a spare day at each end, and never set out late in the day. Hire a driver who knows the hill road in winter if you are not used to snow driving, and ask about snow chains. Ask any place you book how it handles the cold and power cuts, because outages are common in storms. And pack for serious cold; a wedding wardrobe will not do.

Our snow guide explains when the snow usually arrives, how long it lasts and what the roads are like.

A 3-day Nathiagali honeymoon itinerary

Day one: leave Islamabad after a relaxed breakfast and arrive for a late lunch; the winding section begins after Murree and lasts about an hour. Check in, rest, and in the late afternoon walk through the bazaar to St. Matthew's Church, the wooden church built in 1914 that sits among tall trees at the edge of the village and photographs beautifully in low light. Watch the sunset from the ridge road, then have dinner in. You have been hosting people for a week; nobody will judge an early night.

Day two: after a slow breakfast, drive the 3 km to Dunga Gali and walk the Pipeline Track, a level, shaded forest path of about 4 km towards Ayubia that takes an hour to ninety minutes one way and needs no fitness at all. Walk as much or as little as you like, keep snacks away from the monkeys, and take a taxi back if you would rather not return on foot. Spend the afternoon doing nothing much: tea, the view, a nap. In the evening, try the local food at one of the hotel restaurants open to non-guests, or order in.

Day three: choose by energy. Couples who enjoy a climb can do Mukshpuri, about 2,800 metres, a steady two to three hour ascent from Dunga Gali to open meadows and the best view in the Galiyat; start early and carry water and a warm layer. Those who prefer gentle should walk up to Lalazar above the village instead, then browse the bazaar for shawls and dried fruit to take home. Leave by mid-afternoon so the hill road is behind you before dark, or, better, stay a third night and leave after breakfast.

If you have longer, or want alternatives for each day, our general itinerary goes into more detail on timings and the Miranjani sunrise hike.

Where should a honeymoon couple stay: hotel room or private apartment?

Privacy is the thing to choose for. A standard hotel room in high season means a shared corridor, families next door, a restaurant full of other guests and staff knocking at fixed times. Some couples enjoy the bustle. Most newlyweds would rather have their own front door, a sitting room as well as a bedroom, and the freedom to eat breakfast at eleven in whatever they happen to be wearing.

That is the case for a private serviced apartment: the space and seclusion of a flat, with a cook on hand so neither of you has to. Whatever you book, ask a few direct questions first. Is the heating adequate for the month you are coming? Is there backup power? Is there hot water throughout the day? Is there parking, and a lift if the room is on an upper floor? Can meals be brought to the room? Good places answer these without hesitation.

MYG Nathiagali's one-bedroom attic apartment was furnished with couples in mind. It is a complete private apartment, with its own bedroom, living area, fitted kitchen and free Wi-Fi, on the main Nathia Gali road two minutes' walk from the bazaar, so everything in this itinerary is close but the door shuts on all of it. There is a smart TV, a tea setup, an on-site cook and room service from the building's restaurant floor, so breakfast can come to you. Booking is direct by phone on +92 333 9111 550 or WhatsApp on +92 334 4131332; mention that it is your honeymoon and your dates, and the on-site team will have the apartment ready for you.

What should you pack for a Nathiagali honeymoon?

Layers, in every season. Even in June the evenings are cold enough for a jumper or a warm shawl, and the weather changes quickly. Bring comfortable walking shoes with grip as well as the nice ones, a rain jacket, sun protection, any regular medication, a power bank and a torch. For winter add thermals, a heavy coat, gloves, a warm hat, waterproof boots and spare socks. New brides should think twice about heavy formal outfits and heels; the village is all slopes and steps, and one good outfit for photographs is plenty. Carry some cash, since not every shop and stall takes cards, and the ATMs in small hill towns are not always reliable.

Safety and practical tips for couples

Carry your original CNICs. Hotels and guest houses across Pakistan's hill stations routinely ask couples for identification at check-in, and some ask for a copy of the nikah nama, so keep a photograph of it on your phone to save an awkward conversation. Nathiagali is a calm, family-oriented village, and couples walking in the bazaar or on the main trails in daylight are entirely normal. Dress as you would in any smaller Pakistani town.

Do not walk forest trails at dusk or after dark. Ayubia National Park has leopards, and although encounters are rare, the advice is the same for everyone: daylight, marked paths, and back in the village by evening. Finish every drive on the hill road before dark, and download your maps in advance because signal is patchy in the valleys. The nearest full hospitals are in Abbottabad, 30 to 45 minutes away, with basic medical help and a pharmacy in the village. Finally, tell your host your arrival time; in a small place that is how things are made ready.

From a first trip together to a place of your own

Many couples who honeymoon in the Galiyat return every anniversary, and some eventually decide they want a permanent base here. MYG Nathiagali also has apartments for sale in the same building, a 2 Bedroom of 1,800 sq ft and a 3 Bedroom of 2,100 sq ft, built on an earthquake-resistant RCC frame with UPVC double-glazed windows. That is a conversation for a later year. For now, pick your dates, keep the plan light, and let Nathiagali do what it does best, which is very little, very quietly.
